YFDC Spring Show 19th May 2024.
Write up to follow after the show !! Sunday 23rd September saw YFDRC host its first showing show. The show field was well set up with big rings and plenty of room for parking. The classes were very well attended as there have been a lack of little shows this year. The atmosphere was one of relaxation and encouragement and competitors left their rings sporting rosettes and smiles.
The day had many highlights, with a dog in the ring that nearly got judged as best turned out, Club Chairman, Tracy Hook, having to chase one of the young handlers ponies with a clip board to make it trot up for the judge and a whole row of dazzling white ponies in the M&M class. The judges, Justin Walters, who sponsored the Championships, and Helen Parry had a tough day with so many competitors so a huge "Thank You" to you both.
Many of the competitors were trying showing for the first time and they thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the showing debutantes was our Ridden Champion - Catrin Batt and her pony Thistledown Pixar, they were also Reserve Champion in the In Hand ring, our Reserve ridden was Lauren Parry and Kilcannon Skyfall, who had entered her class side saddle and looked very impressive. The In Hand Champion was Holly Menzies and her lovely gelding Spot.

YFDRC Annual Camp
So on the 9th July, 24 riders headed off for the annual Y-Fenni riding club camp at Stockland Lovell, 3 days of learning, fun and friendships (new and old).
Camp brought it’s usual amount of thrills and spills, highs and lows, but also a huge amount of laughter!!! This is what some of the riders had to say,
“Great learning, fun and I will be back next year “
“Hilarious”
“Confidence giving, liberating, challenging, fun, great camaraderie and loads of laughs! Made my year! “
We will be returning to camp on the 8th 9th and 10th July 2022 for another fun packed weekend.

Our Senior riders did amazingly with Victoria Kedward and Amy Price in the top 25 for the 80cm class, Anna Tucker was 12th in the 90cm and Emma Matthews went and won the Open - whoop whoop!!! - round of applause to you ladies.
Also, our junior member, Liana Brake, on a borrowed horse, came 7th in her section with the 14th best dressage score of the day out of all 134 competitors - so huge well done to Liana and Maggie.
Also, a massive thank you to our helpers, who gave up their Sunday to sit in a wet field fence judging - Tracy Hook, Inge Moors, Julie Light and Emma's parents, without whom the riders would be unable to compete.

YFDRC Dressage Show Sunday 13th June 2021 - What a Scorcher!!
Our first live dressage competition for over 12 months took place on what was the hottest day of the year so far!!
The first few tests ran well judged by first time judge, and new to the Riding Club, Martine Lambert, who kindly gave up her Sunday for us. Martine is usually used to writing not judging as she has done this for BD for many years judging up to Grand Prix level so we are very lucky to have her expertise on board. Winners of the first few classes were Molly Thould, Catrin Swanson, Mel O’Brien and Emily Langford.
Next to judge was Anna Tucker, who had a tough job with lots of tight scores, winners of the BD classes were Kirsty Dermody and Kim Young, who won the next 2 classes. Full results can be found on the Downloads page
A good day was had by all and there were a lot of happy riders and horses many who were on new partnerships. We hope to hold a further competition in July so watch this space!

In honour of a much loved, and very well respected, horse woman - all at the club are thinking of the family and everyone involved with SWHP at this difficult time. A true inspiration to us all. Jenny MacGregor MBE. The club has made a donation in her honour and received this beautiful letter:
Dear Tracy
We are writing to thank you and Y Fenni and District Riding Club for your very generous donation of £100 in memory of Jenny.
She was a truly remarkable lady who had the unique ability to show compassion to animals and humans alike. Strong and wilful to the end she passed peacefully at home with her beloved dogs and family around her. Coxstone is not the same without her but all the staff are continuing with her work, as she would of wanted. As you mentioned, we too are honoured that we knew and worked alongside Jenny, she was so inspirational.
Jenny’s family are arranging a memorial service for the beginning of March and everyone will be welcome to celebrate Jenny’s wonderful life.
Once again, thank you sincerely for your donation, it really is greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards
